May 2021

As many of you know, we ran into a challenge on the road after leaving Fredericksburg TX.

For those of you we haven't met yet or don't  know what happened. We had a mystery coolant leak and a fellow Fleetwood Discovery owner helped us locate and diagnose it when we arrived in the park. We thought we had it taken care of.

Then we had another coolant leak.

We got to the Freightliner shop in Amarillo thinking it was just a hose. We were wrong. Very, very wrong.
They discovered our Miss Emmy now has a crack in the underside of her engine block. The techs said we could ger her to our northern home base in SD as long as we kept feeding her coolant. To help her along, I (Betsy) am driving the Jeep instead of us towing it. Follow the leader for our 800 mile trip isn't a whole lot of fun, but it helps. We're sticking to surface routes (US highways) as much as possible and traveling at 50-55 mph which also seems to help.

We are seeking God's wisdom and direction on our next steps...and have 3 things is place so far....
We're not hanging up our keys
We we will be making the repairs
We will not go into debt to make the repairs

Please pray for us as we continue our trek to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sancturay where we spend the summer workcamping in our northern homebase state of SD.

Thank you all.

Wright Patman Lake

As we go about our travels, we look for Corps of Engineers Campgrounds. They are one of our favorite places to stay. And this is one of our favorites.

Cool Clear Water

Cool Clear Water. We all need drinkable water, and we all know that not all water systems were created equal. As Full-time RVers, we have seen some pretty nasty looking water come out of some campground pipes.

To help combat that, we filter twice. The first stage is an in-line filter between the scource faucet and our rig.

The second stage is this, an all-in-one "multi-filter layer" countertop unit. Here's our first look from when we installed it a year ago.

Beautiful Day for a Boat Ride

One of our favorite things about wintering on the Texas Gulf Coast is riding the free ferry into Galveston on "errand day". Yes, the free ferry, which can easily handle even full size semi truck loads. And we like free. Here's a video look as we go back across the ship channel. Enjoy the ride!

Trains and more in North Platte

Travel has been a bit of challenge during the pandemic...not so much the getting from point A to point B and the where to stay part. That was fine.

It's finding things to see and do that can be a challenge. Don't worry, we didn't get bored at all during our stay, it just means we have to go back again someday and see what we missed.

So, check out our YouTube video and enjoy the trip!

So...already it's 2021

And I find the biggest challenge is just keeping up with the blog...maybe this year will be the year it gets back on track. Of course, since this is now already March...wait....March?!?!

Yeah, not too sure how that happened so fast.

Hmmmm. Maybe it's all the catching up on our videos plus doing some remote work for the Black Hills WIld Horse Sanctuary that's helping time move on a little faster...

Anyway, here's hoping we get back on track. In the meantime, you can still keep up with us on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. On all three platforms we're @aswegorv

Safe travels, and "as we go", maybe someday we'll see you on the road.
