Back in January, Galveston had a Museum Day…get in for free or greatly discounted rates at about a dozen museums and galleries.
Yup. We took advantage of that.
Ah, but so many museums, and so little time.
Sorry, I digress. Our first stop was the Galveston Railroad Museum, and surely 2 hours would be enough time since their website suggested 1 hour.
There were several exhibits we didn’t have time to see, indoors and out! So we focused on some of the rolling stock. Some. There are over 40 pieces of rolling stock! Oh, and rolling stock means engines, cars and cabooses.
We didn't even get to the indoor exhibits!
Yup, we’ll be going back.
Hope you enjoy the video,
You can learn more about the Galveston Railroad Museum at:
If you go:
Parking is free with admission.
The short train ride is an additional ticket, but very reasonable. Currently it’s only on Saturdays. If you ask, you might get to ride with the engineer. (Not available to children due to the noise)
Allow plenty of time. We were there for 2 hours and it wasn’t enough…at least, not for us. There is an outdoor refreshment/lunch counter, and the prices looked reasonable. There were a few tables and chairs.

We all know it's important to check our tires and tire pressure before we head out, right?
But did you know about Valve Extenders?
We woke up one morning to a flat tire and had to call road side assistance.
Here's a video about what we learned. And we're thankful we were sitting in an RV park when we learned it!
