Campground Review - Jamaica Beach RV Resort

entrance sign for Jamaica Beach RV ResortWhat can I say?

I know...welcome to our very first campground/rv park review! We'll do these periodically as we travel about, and Jamaica Beach RV made it an easy first. It was a terrific place for our first (somewhat) long-term stay. (3 weeks in one spot!) Here's our take on some of it.
Oh, and for a larger photo, click on the image.

Sites are paved, level, full hookups with a patio and picnic table. Some have a view of the Gulf of Mexico across the road. We got blessed, and had one of those first row sites. Nothing like waking up to that view every morning! There's pretty good space in between sites and landscaping. It's a fairly large park, but the way it's laid out does make it feel smaller and more "neighborly".

After driving the historic neighborhoods here, the RV spaces are so much further apart than some of those houses! Plenty of room to maneuver too. We were able to get into our site without unhooking our Jeep.

An interesting thing we noticed on the island was how many buildings are built on stilts. (Not a common site for us.) That makes makes the Jamaica Beach RV office, store, laundry etc all on the 2nd floor of the buildings, and all buildings have stairs and ramps to get to various services. It also means you get a nice view from those buildings too.

You can tell the owners care about the place. It's very clean and well cared for. And it seems they are adding amenities on a regular basis. A large area is currently under construction to create a well-shaded outdoor gathering place.

Super friendly, helpful, caring owners and staff. It's more than a "business" to them. At least, that's the feeling we got. They were very accommodating for mail, extending our stay, and helping us find a mobile RV repair service when our fridge died.

And the RVers we met were the same way...friendly, helpful and caring.

Wonderful location just west of the town of Jamaica Beach and roughly midpoint on the island's gulf side with a beach access point nearby. It's a short drive into Galveston proper and yet far enough out to have it so quiet you can hear the surf across the road at times. Yes, there was some road noise, but it seemed to drop off shortly after it got dark. (Now, that may be a little different in peak summer, but in December it was quite nice) But we loved the easy access to town, shopping, museums and more. The town of Juanita Beach also has some shopping and services available.

When we checked in, we were given a calendar of planned activities for the month. Game nights, potlucks, Christmas and New Year's events, etc... in addition to the mini golf, pools, and the Lazy River all on site. There's also easy beach access across the road. Now, in December a couple of the pools and Lazy River were't open, but they sure looked good!

Laundry rooms, restrooms and showers are located throughout the grounds in three buildings that are very easy to find. They were all very clean too.  (I know, I know, I should've take pictures of them...but hey,  we're still learning this blogging thing 😉 )

The grounds are very nice for walking or bike riding, and for your canine friends, there are two dog runs.

Jamaica Beach RV also has a nice little store (with reasonable prices!) for those "oops I need..." moments or to grab a T-Shirt or some other goody.

All in all, Jamaica Beach RV is a great place to park your rig for either a few days or an extended stay. And yes, we'll be back there again.
